Medium- A medium is the space the particles travel through.
Wave of Energy- The way energy moves from place to place.
Transverse Wave- The particle moves perpendicular to the medium. up and down.
Compression Wave- The particle moves parallel to the medium. back and fourth.
Frequency- The number of complete vibrations or waves made in one second.
Wavelength- The distance between the crests of two waves that are side by side.
Amplitude- The maximum distance that each particle moves away from it’s usual resting position.
Electromagnetic Spectrum- The range of wavelengths over which electromagnetic radiation extends.
Visible Light- Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see these waves as the colors of the rainbow. Each color has a different wavelength.
Infrared Radiation- A type of electromagnetic radiation involving waves rather than particles.
Ultra-Violet Radiation- The energy waves coming from the sun.
Electromagnetic Waves- Waves that contain a magnetic field and carry energy. They travel at the speed of light.
Reflection- Light waves/rays bounce off object.
Refraction- Light waves/rays bend and travel through object and split in different directions and end at focal point.
Concave- The object is skinnier in the middle or is caved in towards the light.
Convex- The object is wider in the middle or is caved facing the light backwards.
Compressions- The action of compressing or being compressed.
Rarefactions-
Sound waves- The waves that travel through the medium from sound.
