Samuel Morse was born April 27, 1791, Charlestown Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Samuel is famous for his invention of the 'Morse Code', which is a method of communicating textual information as a series of on and off tones. His discovery soon changed the way the messages are sent and received in entire world. His discovery helped improve wireless communication throughout history. During those times, delivering messages took a long amount of time to be delivered, where in todays society all it takes is a click of the button. Samuel however wanted to create a quick way for people to receive important messages in a timely manner due to personal issues and experiences. During the painting of Lafayette's portrait Samuel received the message of his wife's sudden illness. Samuel rushed to from the Washington to his home in New Haven, only to find that his wife had died few days later while he was on his journey. First moment when Samuel Morse came to idea to use electromagnetism as a means of communication was in 1832. During one of his sea voyages he meets with a scientist names Charles Thomas Jackson who described him some of the properties of electromagnetism. After finding out that information sent via copper cables travels instantaneously over great distances, Morse started devising the plan for the creation of single-wire telegraph. After witnessing Jackson's many experiments with electromagnet, he designed first telegraph. On June 10, 1871 a bronze statue of Samuel Morse was shown in Central Park, New York City. An engraved portrait of Morse appeared on the reverse side of the United States two-dollar bill silver certificate series of 1896.
